This week we ran our first set of play tests with people who are not myself or Scott.
The good news is that everybody who played the prototype really enjoyed the game experience even at this early stage. The even better news is that everybody just "got it". They instantly understood and embraced the core idea that you can raise a whole lot of undead minions and command them to achieve simple tasks. They valued the choice of undead classes that best suited their play style or the current enemies and obstacles.
We feel that this is proof enough that we have something special here and we can now transition to full on development of Soul Harvest. We'll be making a number of tweaks and adding some minor features and even a few major additions based on the feedback.
Among the most asked for items is the ability to reanimate zombified animals that can be riden as steeds and attack their enemies with suitable animalistic savagery. Not just the obvious animals like wolves and bears, but the rabbits. Players feel strongly about commanding a horde of killer undead bunnies that leap at enemies and tear their throats out.
At this stage nothing is off the table. We are strongly considering adding animal minions, but we cannot promise that the player will be able to reanimate bunnies, hamsters, kittens, puppies, goats, donkies, etc.
We are grateful for the testers taking time out to come and give the prototype a go and provide some useful feedback so we can make a better game.
