I wanted to take a moment to talk about the Necropolis and how it will work. We've touched on this back in September 2015 bit.ly/1MlCZ1Y
Maybe grab a coffee and a snack. This is going to be a long one.
We decided to add the Necropolis for a number of reasons.
Firstly, in a game where you are the villain, most NPCs you encounter will either flee from you or engage in combat. There is not much opportunity for quest givers or storytelling through dialogue.
Another point is that most players want to be able join a faction or guild and rise through the ranks.
Lastly, we wanted to reinforce some lore of this world.
In short:
1. We wanted a friendly location where you could talk to NPCs in order to receive information and quests.
2. We wanted to provide a guild/organisation in which you can begin as an initiate and do quests to become the Grand Master.
3. We wanted to a location rich in lore and unique to necromancers.
A brief history lesson---
In a time long passed another race walked this world and raised a mighty empire. They dominated the world with their mastery of necromancy and enslaved humankind.
In the times of the old empire humans were forbidden to learn the ways of necromancy or practice magic.
Though the race is no longer in the realm of the living, ruins and artifacts are still scattered about the land. These are places of power that men fear to tread because they are warded by powerful magic and guarded by the undead.
Necromancy was rediscovered by men bold enough to enter these ruins and learn their secrets.
The Necropolis is one of these ruins left behind. Though it was once well used in the times of the old empire it was abandoned even before the fall of the empire. Abandoned. Lost. Forgotten.
The Necropolis is a safe haven that is in a secret, inaccessable location that is unknown to The Order.
Most necromancers are loners, but a few have banded together for safety as the Holy Order of Tyrus reinvigourates it's extermination of necromancers.
Because it is an inaccessable location you will need to travel to and from the Necropolis via portals. You might think of it as the town of Tristram in Diablo.
Building and Repairs
The Necroplis is in a bad state of repair and will require you to rebuild and unlock sections. You will have to claim a lair for yourself and restore the cages for containing your abominations.
We intend to allow you to have a total of threee cages for up to three different types of abomination. This way you can experiment with the skils of each class and use the abomination most useful to your current quest.
Non Player Characters ---
A handful of Necromancers have gathered at the Necropolis as a matter of survival and have formed the first necromancer guild. The Black Brotherhood.
In the Necropolis you will be able to talk to necromancers in order to take on quests, learn about the world and it's people, further the interests of the Black Brotherhood or advance somebody's secret agenda.
The Undertaker
Never has there been a more lucrative opportunity for the trade of the decaying body parts of human beings as the Necropolis.
This shifty character will buy your unwanted body parts and sell you enchanted body parts to strenghten your horde. The Undertaker accepts only souls as currency.
He might even have the odd gift or pay out some souls should you agree to run some...errands.
Shadow Merchant
She might look like any other merchant, but she trades in illegal magical artifacts. For the right number of souls you can buy artefacts to augment your gear or sell her your unwanted items.
In her kind of business she always has need of capable necromancers for odd jobs.
Where Is It?
So now that you now what the Necropolis is, we need your help deciding where it should be. We know it is a remote and inaccessable ruins from a empire since collapsed and crumbled.
Voting will decide the appearance of terrain, vegetation and building architecture
