I have had to build a mount system in anticipation for the new Character System.
This is because I need to equip weapon props and apply the correct damage for a characters class.
There are three mounts that need to be considered.
Head (Teeth, Mask)
Weapon Props and Equipped Items After the character has been spawned with their outfit we need to add the correct weapon for the character class. This is pretty obvious for a character like the Footman. He gets a sword in his right hand and a shield in his left.
However, it get's a little weird for characters that do not have a visible weapon. For instance we add invisible weapons for the wolf for it's teeth (Head Mount) and front claws (Main Hand & Offhand Mounts). We also add an invisible casting weapon to the Priestess for her hand mounts. This is so I have a point to cast spell projectiles from.
The head mount is also handy for equipping helmets and masks to humans.
Skills & Weapons Dual wield characters like the Priestess and Zombie can have different spells/combat effects equipped on each hand so I need to distinguish which hand is being used in an attack to apply the appropriate damage and effects.
This is a simple system on it's own, but it's what ties the Skill System and the Character System together.
