One thing that has come up a lot in feedback is that people want to ride steeds. Undead wolf or undead bear would be a mighty steed indeed. Seems like a great idea, right? The obvious reasons you would be that you might want a steed is to traverse great distances faster or ride into combat and do devastating attacks with their jaws or claws specific to the animal class. And let's not forget it just looks really cool. However this raises certain design questions that make the development cost too great for such a small benefit. For example: - Will the game levels be large enough to require a steed to cross?
- What kind of attacks could the steed do?
- What will be different about the combat on a steed that the player cannot do without a steed?
- Can the player be knocked off the steed?
- Can the player still uses normal attacks when riding a steed?
- How will the AI enemies target the player atop a steed?
Right now I just don't see it working. So here is your chance to convince me otherwise. Tell me what is special about riding a steed and why you want it so much. Feel free to use examples of other games that use steeds e.g. Shadow Of Mordor, World Of Warcraft, etc.

Temporary horse (5-10 seconds). The horse may be collected from the bodies (bones) directly during the battle to get yanked out of the battle, or to catch up with the enemy. Necromancer on it can not attack, but the horse does damage (jerk, hooves). Strokes do not dump the Necromancer from his horse (invulnerability).

I'm warming to the idea of mounts now that the game has gotten so much larger. I can foresee a need to travel across vast game areas. So far I like this suggestion the best. I imagine it would work much like riding a caragor in Shadow of Mordor. Nice!

Maybe fast-travel? do not want a horse bothered me in the same way as in the World of Warcraft. We can move through portals. I understand that everyone wants to create "interesting for the study of the world", but it is better to open a quick move to the locations already acquainted, and no ride a horse few hours on the same area.

I couldn't agree more. We had the same thoughts in the early days when the world was not big enough to warrant a steed. Walking or fast travelling to locations would have been perfect. I'm intrigued by your "jerk hooves" suggestion though The steed becomes a valid combat tactic and game mechanic. Scott and I will talk it over in the next game design meeting.
